Jasmin Wölke moderates panel discussions in Graz, in English and in German. From individual pre-talks she develops a dramaturgy built on genuine points of dispute, and she leads the round so that the audience takes home more than exchanged standpoints.
Panels in front of an audience that checks the maths
Panels in Graz are cast with expertise: the professor from TU Graz, the head of development from the powertrain world, the founder from the Green Tech Valley, next to them a voice from plant engineering. The topics are the ones the region itself depends on: the future of the powertrain, AI in engineering, energy and environmental technology, skilled workers for industry. The audience is made up of engineers, researchers and project leads. People like this ask precise questions and notice immediately when an answer dodges. For the moderation that means platitudes get exposed. Whoever leads here has to know the terminology, understand where the fault lines run, and have the nerve to ask a second follow-up when the first answer stays smooth.
Preparation you can hear on stage
Before the panel, Jasmin talks to every guest individually: their position, their red lines, the thesis nobody else will say out loud. From this she builds an arc from the opening through the sharpest point of the debate to an ending with substance. On stage she distributes speaking time visibly, interrupts politely when a contribution turns into a lecture, and brings reserved guests back into the conversation with concrete questions. Questions from the floor are sorted and passed to the person who can actually answer them. At the International Business Summit, a corporate reference spanning two days with 400 participants and 15 sessions, she led discussion rounds of exactly this density.
English on the panel, German in the hall
In Graz development and research teams, English is the working language, and many panels include an international guest. Jasmin then moderates in alternation: she asks in the language of the guest and condenses the answer for the hall without doubling the conversation. How solid panel questions are built is shown in the article questions for a panel discussion, the format itself by the hub panel discussion. All engagements in the city are collected on the Graz city page.
