An event moderator's fee depends on duration, format and preparation effort: there is no honest fixed price for every event, because no two events are alike. What is serious is a written offer after a briefing, with a clear scope of work and travel costs listed separately.
Why no moderator publishes a price list
The work behind an appearance varies enormously. A festive evening with a finished running order needs a good briefing and a rehearsal. A two-day congress with an expert programme needs weeks of reading into topics, pre-talks with speakers and coordination with the show caller. Calling both "one day on stage" is misleading: the stage day is only the visible part.
The four factors that drive the fee
First, duration: an evening, a full day or several days in a row. Second, preparation: a finished running order, or co-writing dramaturgy, scripts and questions. Third, the format: an award ceremony with ten handovers demands different work than an expert conference with panels. Fourth, incidentals: travel and accommodation, which should sit apart from the fee.
An example from real work
Jasmin Wölke hosted the Leadership Excellence Awards, a festive evening with 250 guests and ten awards, and the International Business Summit, two days with 15 sessions and more than 400 participants in German and English. The evening rested on briefing and rehearsal; the summit required working through 15 sessions and aligning with many speakers. Two assignments, two completely different workloads, and therefore two different offers. Details on both are in the references.
How to recognise a serious offer
Four traits help you compare. The offer arrives in writing and after a real briefing, not as a flat rate over the phone. It names the scope: briefing, preparation, coordination, rehearsal, stage time. Travel and accommodation are listed separately. And it settles cancellation and postponement before the case arises.
Be careful with very cheap offers: whoever prices in no preparation has planned none. A poorly run event usually costs more than the difference between two offers.
How to get your offer
Send date, venue, occasion and a rough guest count through the contact form. The briefing clarifies goal, running order and language; the written offer follows. The path to the event day is described on the page book a moderator; the three cooperation models are on the services page. What an event host actually delivers is shown on the page event moderator.
