December in Bremen: two Christmas markets, booked-out venues
In December the whole city celebrates. The Christmas market on the Marktplatz and the Schlachte-Zauber along the Weser absorb the restaurants, and anyone looking for a venue for a company party learns quickly that the good dates go early. So the venue comes first in the calendar, and the programme follows.
There is no shortage of options. The Glocke by the market square lends the evening the dignity of a concert hall, the Übersee-Museum by the main station provides a backdrop people still talk about over dinner, and Schuppen Eins in the Überseestadt adds industrial charm between classic cars. The Park Hotel on the Hollersee stands for the classic festive reception. Many companies deliberately celebrate where the work happens: in their own hall, spending on light and sound instead of room hire.
Festive does not mean solemn here
A Bremen audience forgives a lot, but not pathos. The plant lives by its shift schedule, aerospace teams bring colleagues from many countries to the table, and along the quays what counts is what holds.
