Jasmin Wölke hosts gala evenings, award ceremonies and company anniversaries in Linz, in English and in German. The gala host travels from Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart the day before and walks through the evening with every team involved.
The venue sets the tone of the evening
Few cities of this size offer such different stages for a festive evening. The Brucknerhaus sits right on the Danube and brings concert hall atmosphere. The Palais Kaufmännischer Verein stands for historic ballrooms, the Tabakfabrik for raw industrial scenery, the Ars Electronica Center for a futuristic frame on the riverbank, with the Pöstlingberg watching over the city. You can tell from these places that Linz was European Capital of Culture in 2009 and is a UNESCO City of Media Arts today. Each of these settings demands its own dramaturgy: what feels solemn in a concert hall can look stiff in an industrial hall, and what works casually there would feel too loose in a palais. Jasmin tunes tone, pace and dress code of the evening to the venue, not the other way around.
The people on stage come from plant, lab and code
Hosts in Linz come from steel, chemicals, plant engineering and a well-grown software scene. When such a company celebrates, shift supervisors sit next to developers and project managers next to customers. This audience has a fine sense of whether a stage moment is honest. Jasmin therefore prepares every single award individually: in the briefing she collects the story behind each name, checks the pronunciation and builds the moment so that the person is at the centre, not the show. How dense an evening with many awards can become is shown by the Leadership Excellence Awards, a corporate reference with 250 guests and ten categories. When international partners are in the room, she runs awards and programme in a planned alternation with English.
A schedule that carries the evening
Menu, music, speeches and awards all run on the same clock, but rarely in the same direction. Jasmin goes through the sequence with venue, technical crew and kitchen before the evening, plans buffers and gives the official part a clear ending, so the night belongs to the guests. How an award evening is structured is shown in the article on the sequence of an award ceremony. The format is described in the hub gala moderation, and all local engagements are collected on the Linz city page.
