Jasmin Wölke moderates workshops, strategy retreats and leadership offsites in Zurich, in English and in standard German. As an external moderator with no stake in the outcome, she keeps the discussion on the matter and secures every decision in writing.
Regulated world meets tech pace
Zurich leadership teams negotiate a particular balancing act in their retreats. On one side stands the regulated world of the financial centre: decisions by banks, insurers and asset managers must survive supervisors, risk committees and compliance before they count. On the other side pushes the pace of technology, from the large Google site and the ETH environment with its spin-offs to the fintechs working on the same clients. When an executive circle decides on AI in the client business, new business models or its own organisation, both logics sit at the table, often together with two languages. Rounds like these are exactly where a neutral lead pays off: it makes sure the cautious voice and the fast voice get equal room, and that the day ends with something both sides can carry.
How Jasmin runs a retreat
Before the date, Jasmin clarifies the decision question: what is actually up for debate, what is fixed, who decides in the end? Where tension is expected, she holds short one-to-one calls in advance. On the day itself she separates analysis from decision, makes interim states visible to everyone and closes each item before the group moves on: with a resolution, an owner and a date. This way of working comes from formats such as the SAP Top Leadership Forum, a corporate reference from the leadership circle of a global company. If the round runs in English or switches between languages, she summarises interim states so both language groups continue from the same point.
Rooms facing the water, not the inbox
A retreat gains from leaving the company building, so nobody slips into mails and daily business between two blocks. Zurich makes that easy: hotels by the lake and above the city offer quiet meeting rooms with a wide view, venues in the surrounding countryside add distance, and for teams flying in from several countries The Circle at the airport sits practically next to the gate. Jasmin arrives the day before from Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, by direct train, so the first working block starts without travel risk. Whether an external lead is the right step is discussed in when does an external moderator make sense?. The format is shown in the workshop moderation hub, and all assignments in the city are bundled on the Zurich city page.
