Jasmin Wölke hosts galas, award ceremonies and company anniversaries in Basel, in English and in standard German. The gala host comes from Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart and is on site in the afternoon for evening events.
From Barfüsserplatz to the water
Basel offers very different rooms for a festive evening. The Stadtcasino at Barfüsserplatz stands for the grand, ceremonial frame in the middle of the city. The Volkshaus and the historic guild and society houses of the old town sit closer to the audience, with short distances between table and stage. Hotels on the banks of the Rhine place the river as a panorama behind the programme, and an evening on a Rhine boat turns the cruise itself into part of the dramaturgy. Jasmin therefore asks about the room first and builds the programme afterwards: where the honours sit, when the management speaks, where the evening gets room to breathe. A running order that carries in a society house needs a different pace on the boat.
Honours for people from lab, plant and port
Basel companies often have long histories, and the people they honour come from the laboratory, from production and from the logistics operations at the Rhine ports. A good tribute tells in one minute what this person means to the company. Jasmin collects these stories in the briefing and clarifies the pronunciation at the same time: in a trinational workforce, German, French and international names stand on the same list, and every name deserves to sound right. When international guests are in the room, the welcome and the honours run in a planned alternation between German and English. How many programme items one evening can take is shown by the Leadership Excellence Awards, a corporate reference with 250 guests and ten categories.
The Basel calendar has a say
Anyone planning a festive evening in Basel plans around the city. Fasnacht shapes the spring, and in Advent the beautiful halls are requested early. Jasmin therefore recommends fixing date and room before the programme. Ahead of the evening she aligns the running order, the technology and the stage management with the team in charge, including an afternoon rehearsal for dense programmes. How an award ceremony is structured is shown in running order of an award ceremony. The format is described in the gala hosting hub, and all assignments in the city are bundled on the Basel city page.
